Personal self-retracting lifelines (SRLs) are typically more portable and compact than mounted SRLs. The self-retracting device housing end of the SRL attaches to the worker’s harness, which requires the worker to carry more weight than when using a mounted SRL. Sometimes called personal fall limiters (PFLs), SRLs are generally shorter than mounted SRLs so they’re worn when working close to the anchor point.
